One of the most talented young directors of this decade, Joe Wright's BAFTA Award winning "Pride and Prejudice" was predictable but excellent.
Nominated for best original score Oscar for his previous work with director Wright in "Pride & Prejudice," Marianelli's superb original scores are combined with well-selected classics performed by the English Chamber Orchestra (another re-teaming from "Pride and Prejudice").

Maybe the relatively modest Pride and Prejudice was a necessary forerunner to this film.

Overall, though "Pride & Prejudice" as a title may imply something more (and perhaps in the book is), here it is essentially a soapy love story with supposedly clever dialogue.

Blethyn and Sutherland play off each other well and provide wonderful comedy together.
I quite enjoyed Pride & Prejudice but that may come from the fact that I'm not all that familiar with Austen's novel.
The cast is wonderful.

For novices, it's a lovely, romantic film that is beautiful in both appearance and spirit.
The colors are deep and natural-looking -- not falsely vibrant, like in an Technicolor musical, but realistic and beautiful.

The Disc: The DVD of Pride and Prejudice is fairly decent - the sound and picture are of good quality and there's a fair amount of extras.
Pride and Prejudice is not a perfect movie.
The best of the extras is a short feature on author Jane Austen.

Her oldest sister is Jane (Rosamund Pike), who is considered to be the most beautiful.
