Andrew L. Urban Embellished strongly with Tim Burton's distinctive stamp, Planet of the Apes is an extravagant fable, replete with superb production design, extraordinary make up and imaginative effects. Highly anticipated, the film is likely to disappoint some who hoped and expected more than just a big budget special effects epic. ... Full Review

I just blow it off to this is a terrible movie. The audio in the film is also well done. It's just too bad the movie just wasn't too good. To make a long story short there was another landing of a space ship in the future that carried an ape. ... Full Review

The reboot of the franchise died in Tim Burton's worst movie of his career. There's a great story in there somewhere though. I ignore all the sequels to the original 1968 film anyway, except for 'Beneath. ... Full Review

I continue to see "good" reviews for this absolutely terrible movie. I thought it was a pretty good movie, until the end. Great flick. The movie was great except for the last two minutes. Overall, it was a good film, though. ... Full Review

Here's the short of it: Tim Burton's take on Planet of the Apes is two hours of missed opportunities. Bottom line is, I don't think Burton is the sort of director who can successfully play in other people's sandboxes, and I don't mean that as a slight against him, as the same can be said of many truly great filmmakers. ... Beyond the baffling decision to make the humans in the movie capable of speech (thus removing the central analogy of the original series The most glaring problem with this movie is the utter and complete lack of even remotely intelligent writing. ... Full Review

These moments play more like skits dreamed up by the "Saturday Night Live" cast while watching the original film. He and Helena Bonham Carter come off best in the film by bringing out their inner apes through their prosthetics. ... Full Review
