Suffice to say, it was a very crafty movie in that sense....It's an ultimate action-adventure creature-feature with heaps of action, adventure, fun, a touch of romance, a group of underwater pirates and monsters..... ... Full Review

Skip it : The original movie's swashbuckling and drunken spirit has gone a bit stale, as "Dead Man's Chest" is persistently silly but never that much fun. Aside from a few impressive visuals, the film's jokes are strained and its seas are choppy, with director Gore Verbinski providing little flow from scene to scene or from comedy to action. ... Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is full of epic action sequences, visually stunning, but lacking in heart, which is ironic because of the story: Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) has been given the Black Mark, meaning that he will be hunted by Davy Jones and his ghost ship The Flying Dutchman. ... you've not only got the best pirate film of the last decade, but also one of the best film spectaculars of the year.....Add Hollywood's least predictable director in Gore Verbinski....gets all the best lines.....For a long time now, pirates have been box office poison for film studios.....The unbridled glee of his performance makes it look like he did it purely for the fun of it..... ...
