Curiosity factor: Reports from trusted friends touting the film as a modern so-bad-it's-good classic were actually a bit superfluous; I was already on board. Suspicions fall on a major advertising executive and notorious philanderer played by Bruce Willis, who apparently enjoyed the victim's company for a weekend and wrote her love letters via Hotmail with lines like, "I'm going to fuck you so hard, I'm going to split you in half. ... As far as Hollywood thrillers go, Perfect Stranger starts well with an interesting melee of characters and plenty of seductive close ups of the alluring and shapely Miss Berry. James Foley's direction is competent but the material leaves it wide open for all the gaping holes to be apparent. ... Full Review

A-list stars, at-times sharp dialogue by screenwriter Todd Komarnicki and slick production by director James Foley mask the fact that Perfect Stranger is ultimately a B movie with a bland title, histrionic acting and a ridiculous twist ending. A quirky character actor whose angular features play well on film, Ribisi fares best. ... Full Review

Another techno thriller in which the "techno" looks hopelessly out of date, PERFECT STRANGER would be laughable ... Apparently unable to stop itself, Perfect Stranger piles on some nightmares for Rowena (she was traumatized by a bad stepfather as a child) and her ex, Cameron ( Gary Dourdan ), who shows up for steamy-seeming sex and an argument that has little to do with anything else. ... The dodgy script doesn't give them much to work with either, frequently throwing up unintentionally laughable lines such as, You know how much Daddy likes bath-time. It doesn't help that the characters are deeply unsympathetic: Rowena has a tendency towards screechy bouts of rage, Harrison is a smarmy sleazeball and Miles is a twitchy weirdo. ... Full Review

Not to take anything away from Ribisi, because he was really quite good, but when the most promising aspect of a thriller is a supporting actors performance, it means there was a significant lack of thrills. The Disc: In a case like Perfect Stranger , not even a four hour making of and a commentary from the director coupled with the three main actors could make it a worthwhile DVD purchase, nor would it add any insight to the film. ... While it begins dully enough for an investigative thriller, Perfect Stranger quickly skids off into abject foolishness. But Perfect Stranger cant actually be bothered with characterization or worse, development. ... Full Review

The storyline is very flawed, the acting is okay, and it just doesn't hold up as a great thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Yes, Bruce Willis and Halle Berry are fantastic actors, and I would love to see them in a film that is sexy... ... Full Review
