Not one of Pacino's best
Sep 24, 2008

Al Pacino, displays perhaps the worst southern accent I have ever heard in this movie. Despite having a near all star cast, this is a flop and throughout the film I kept wondering when it would 'get good'. It never did.... Full review

Don't believe the negative reviews for this film. Every negative review seems to miss the point. This is a character study about an idealist whose lost his way. It's got drugs and hookers and a subplot that could've hijacked this... Full review

I do not agree with the platitude that this is simply about Narcissistic Personality Disorder. This film is very broad in scope, reflecting the complex world of public relations, politicians, actors and disappointments.Pacino is Eli Wurman, a PR man who... Full review

I took that as an indication that I'd be seeing an intelligent, well-plotted film. Unfortunately, the truth is that People I Know is a muddled piece that doesn't go anywhere for the simple reason that it really doesn't know where it's trying to go. ... Full Review

Dull, slow, tedious film with a bizarre, yet strangely compelling performance from Al Pacino -....Having said that, Pacino is always watchable....when he's awful (see also The Recruit ) and he's bizarrely compelling here.....it's dull where it should be exciting and tedious where it should be moving.....Film Never Takes Off Despite a strong supporting cast, the film never really takes off..... ... It robs Pacino's powerhouse performance of a proper context and leaves this potentially intelligent thriller looking slightly gormless.....Disappointly, though, the script's weakness lies in its all-too-obvious intrigues.....Harking back to the star's own glorious acting past, director Daniel Algrant stages the talky plot.... ...
