Anything With Woody Harrelson In It...

...is just lame. Elisabeth Shue is hot though; why the producers paired her with a schmoe like Woody is beyond me. On the other hand, maybe his playing dumb really isn't an act.... Full review
A Very Underrated 'Neo Noir'

I think this is one of those modern-day film noirs (neo noir) that went under the radar. It is excellent, and few people know about it. It's a very underrated film.It had an interesting and unpredictable story with some very... Full review

After great performance in leaving las vegas i thought shue is here to say but she went downhill b'cause of movies like this and the only thing which is watchable in this movie is shue!... Full review
Noir Gone Bad

Great Cast in a horrible attempt at a noir movie. With this cast the director should have been able to salvage something watchable, but even Harrelson who should be able to pull off this character is lost. Shue's scenes are laughable.... Full review

This is a normal B flick for a rainy day, because that is exactly how I caught this movie on the HBO channel. This movie has a list of great actors like Woody Harrelson, Elisabeth Shue, Gina Gershon, and Michael Rapaport,... Full review

Although the characters lack credibility (it seems like every single woman in the history, all of them gorgeous, is dying to get into the underwear of the main male character as a matter of urgency).Nevertheless the plot is unusual and... Full review

I think that "Palmetto" is going to be a cult movie some years from now. It has been clearly underrated. It is "noir", although located in sunny places. It has a sort of kinship relation with George Stevens' A Place... Full review
Riveting thriller.

Apart from one central problem (Elisabeth Shue certainly has the body, but not the inherent tough-girl attitude her role requires; in other words, she's miscast), I personally cannot understand how anyone can claim to be a mystery fan and not... Full review

Palmetto wastes a reasonably skilled cast on stultifying recreations of old-movie stereotypes Woody Harrelson's familiar uncouth mannerisms can't cover up the fact that his character makes no sense - he's supposed to be a sharp, wrongfully accused journalist, but it's never convincingly explained why he acts throughout like a dumb thug-for-hire (or why his long-suffering girlfriend is so accepting of this). ... The flawed hero of "Palmetto" is Harry Barber ( Woody Harrelson ), a contemporary, small-town Florida newspaperman whose enterprising reporting on local corruption got him framed and sent to prison two years before the movie starts. The characters aren't even interesting. ... Full Review

The result is a stale and tedious mystery that surprises viewers with some of its twists only because they're so contrived that they make little sense. Even as he reunites with his loving, supportive girlfriend, Nina (Gina Gershon), Harry continues to harbor bitterness against the officials of the town of Palmetto, Florida. ... Full Review

Mr. Cranky Rates the Movies
If I'm going to sit through a slow, boring film like "Palmetto," then my bonus ought to be that the director Volker Schlondorff does his chauvinist-pig best to exploit Elisabeth Shue's naked body. Barring Shue's breasts, the writers might have tried to throw in a little decent dialogue and maybe some supporting characters that couldn't be mistaken for scarecrows. ... Full Review
