In one scene, Keaton and partner Anthony LaPaglia have to negotiate with crack-deranged gunman David Barry-Gray.
The ending comes as little surprise, showing even good guys bend the rules sometimes.

What they need is a real house, and the one Keaton finds is perfect.
See, he and his better half (model-actress Rene Russo) can't have kiddies of their own, so they struggle to hang on to the girls, even though they don't have the money or, according to social services, the proper living quarters for them.

The movie is slick and clever
I don't know what the filmmakers thought, but I don't think " One Good Cop " has a happy ending.
Keaton and his wife ( Rene Russo ) take the three girls in, and the wife would like to adopt them.
