Typical 007 silliness with a dash of intensity

After somewhat of a backfired attempt at returning the Bond series which had descended to rampant silliness to a coldly serious polar opposite in For Your Eyes Only, director John Glen skilfully melded a more serious and visceral tone with... Full review

There are some very, very ill-advised moments in "Octopussy". The 'Super-Bond' finale scene where he's hanging on to a flying plane with his bare hands, IN... OUT... IN... OUT..., the Croco-Sub, to name but a few.So how does "Octopussy" manage... Full review

Because of the threat of the competing Sean Connery unofficial Bond film in 1983, Never Say Never Again, the Bond filmmakers decide to leave the realistic and meaningful approach of 1981's For Your Eyes Only behind and go back to the... Full review

Octo***** does offer a lot of beautiful women and exotic locations, but the film becomes mildly corny, with very cartoonish characters.... Full review

When this one came out, it was getting pretty obvious that Roger Moore was growing out of playing 007, but the movie itself has all the action a Bond fan needs. Had Timothy Dalton took over from here, Octo***** and A... Full review

There is a switch in the 007 film series. Both Moore and Connery were 007. This film starred Moore as 007, but 1983 marked the end of Sean Connery as 007 with Never Say Never Again.... Full review

A good Bond film, easily be forgotten about though. Octo***** herself makes a great Bond girl. The story is OK, not the best in my opinion but a worthy entry into the Bond saga.... Full review

Time Out
The result is a bizzaro Bond that flits more jarringly than ever from peerless action and the kind of end-of-the-pier humour and busy innuendo that the previous film had largely dispensed with. The plot is the usual nuclear palaver but is merely an excuse to transport James to India so he can run through his repertoire of infantile curry gags and get entangled in the criminal arms of Maud Adams and her cadre of female thugs who all belong to a cult that worships, of all things, the octopus. ... While Octopussy doesn't measure up with the best the series has to offer, it stands as a pretty good movie that provides more entertainment than the average Moore outing. Octopussy isn't the best Bond movie or DVD ... Full Review

Maud Adams, the eponymous Octopussy herself, fails to sparkle - she heads a band of female jewel thieves but has precious little to do.
