engaging crime thriller, if you can stand the blood and violence.....The performances in "No Country for Old Men" are wonderful, the script brings the novel visually to life....Curiously, McCarthy and the Coen brothers are able to move the plot forward nicely by keeping the principles from intersecting....I think that cinematographer Roger Deakins probably should have won as well..... ... Lots of folks seem to like the movie just fine as it is.....Most of it is an affectionate joke at the Coens' expense as the cast take pot shots at their lack of direction.....It's actually a very funny short film on its own....Javier Bardem is particularly amusing....The cinematography by Coens regular Roger Deakins is as good as they come..... ... No Country for Old Men , the Coen brothers' undisputed career masterpiece evokes the feeling that everything they've achieved prior to this has simply been larks.....Accompanying this fine film is an absolute plethora of featurettes and press coverage.....pointed into a needle of sheer cinematic genius.....Josh Brolin's Video Diary is oddly compelling.... ... oel and Ethan Coen bring a touch of levity to their faithful adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's relentlessly bleak 2003 novel No Country for Old Men....With the masterful No Country , the Coens and McCarthy give us one.....The biggest disappointment is the lack of a commentary track, any commentary track.....The Coens' concise, efficient script proficiently captures McCarthy's melancholic view of old-young disparities....Their cynical streak finds its perfect complement in McCarthy's gloomy tale of Biblical-sc ... We don't know who won the Oscar for sound effects editing that year, but the distinct sound....While out on a hunting trip in the west Texas desert, welder Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) happens upon a disturbingly fresh crime scene;....it's easy to forget what a brilliant actor he can be.....By eschewing large scale action scenes, the Coens focus their attention on moments of quiet dread, punctuated by startling bursts of violence (we can't remember a film that has used silence to such suspenseful effect).... ...
