My One and Only

I've just seen the European Premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. Although it did not win the major prize it was very well received. I enjoyed it enormously. It tells of a 1930's high society mother (Renee Zellwegger - never better)... Full review

So the film certainly isn't lacking for star power.....But a better movie would offer much more in the way of initial connection with the characters....No one else is particularly weak, they are failed more by the pacing and overall lack of plot structure of My One and Only .....It also has some odd tonal shifts, a somewhat meandering plot....then again Kevin Bacon is a notorious philanderer..... ... It's telling of what happens between life and death is quite simply one of the greatest films I've ever seen.....MY ONE AND ONLY I'm not a knee-jerk Renee Zellweger hater.....it is about him, I liked the movie just a little bit more knowing....My favorite section of MY ONE AND ONLY is set in St. Louis....The two young actresses are so sweet and natural.... ...
