Interesting but left me wanting more

With a surprising mix of aristocratic vulgarity, the main character, Mrs. Henderson was quirky enough to keep me wondering what she was going to say and do next. The storyline, though based on a true story, reminded me of the show... Full review

This was an OK movie that could have been much better. It starts off with a lot of promise, Judi Dench buys a theater, then hires Bob Hoskins to run it and do a nude show and they have a great... Full review

A true story well told. Enjoyable dialogue, great acting, wonderful sets/costumes/music, nice ladies. What kind of curmudgeon could make something less than wonderful out of that combination. You feel happy. You feel sad. You cry and you laugh. You keep time... Full review

An absolutely amazing movie. As usual, Judi Dench is superior. I particulary liked the clever dialogue. A must see if you like period pieces.... Full review

a true story, and an interesting one. Hoskins was very good as well. I don't know if it was the projection equipment in the theater, or the film itself, but it was darker at times than I like. Given the dearth... Full review

I enjoyed watching Dentch and Hoskins having fun with this material. In less capable hands this film would have fallen flat on its face. A solid "B" entry.... Full review

Once again Judy Dench wows us with another terrific performance. Based on a real story, this film takes the audience on a ride that is both funny and moving, using some history reels of WWII and plenty of great music and... Full review

There is a huge amount of nudity in this movie but it is not done in a sexual manner. Strange but true. The story is ment to be a comedy and overall it is but it does have some sad moments.... Full review

Henderson Presents," which is set in the late 1930s and early '40s and loosely based on historical truth, begins very promisingly, with the divine Judi Dench as a recently widowed upper-class British woman with an irresistible trashy streak. Hoskins and Dench, who was nominated for a best actress Oscar for her role here, seem to be having a rare good time, and the pleasure spreads to the audience. ... Full Review

Stephen Frears' film, scripted by Martin Sherman, is an affectionate look at the two very different people mainly responsible for the success of this unusual theatre enterprise and the film succeeds in being both tartly amusing, mainly thanks to Judi Dench's sense of timing, and at times quite touching. ... This slight but deliciously ripe British comedy is about the little old lady who brought nudity to the British stage....he's called, struggles to find the right combo of music, dance and nudity.....Darned if this movie doesn't make you swell up with pride at what troupers these show people were.....Except for one notable scene, that is, when Bob wears pretty much what the girls do --.... ...
