Jon Heder shows up as a hippie hitchhiker, wringing whatever laughs he can out of his nerd shtick.
So when the boss' free-spirited, stereotypically quirky niece (an irritating Mila Kunis) needs to get to L.A., he's up for the job.

Eager to impress, he agrees to help the firm's top lawyer, Maxwell McAllister (Rutger Hauer), with a favor he really cannot afford.
Along the way they encounter numerous obstacles and unforgettable characters, like free-spirited hitchhiker Orlick Prescott Hope (Heder), who all contribute to slowing down the journey much to Rick's dismay.

Which makes "Moving McAllister" the unfortunate exception.
Gourley, who also wrote the script, is awful as the wide-eyed innocent.
The McAllister of the title is Maxwell McAllister (Rutger Hauer), the head of a successful Miami law firm.

Writer-star Ben Gourley packs this excursion with enough contrived quirkiness and latent angst to win over the college crowd, but adds nothing particularly insightful about his generation.
Gourley, who looks like a young James Marsden with his clean-cut good looks and toothy white smile, never seems as dedicated to a career in law as his character professes.
