I blame John Woo for this one

Well, this was a pretty poor excuse for a movie. I liked the first and third but the second was awful. You would know John Woo was involved by the inclusion of doves flying through the under ground lair shortly after... Full review
A good romantic action-adventure movie…

In writing a story to fit the action in "Mission: Impossible 2", Screenwriter Robert Towne brought nuance, complexity and irony to the human interaction and to the characters… So greed is the animating force… Being an amazing filmmaker, John Woo wanted... Full review

The first 60 percent of this movie was pretty good; the last 40 percent was mostly action and mostly so hokey, so stupid, it was an insult for any viewer with a brain. Too bad, the first Mission Impossible was... Full review

Wow. I've seen lots of bad movies and lots of bad sequels, but this one was just incredibly bad. I didn't even know it was possible to sink that low. And it wasn't even bad in a funny way, but... Full review

Mission: Impossible was a fast paced espionage thriller that actually made you think, which is what I like in a movie. Since John Woo, who is one of the kings of the action genre, took over for Brian De Palma,... Full review

I really liked 1996's 'Mission: Impossible'. Now here is the antithesis of the first movie: 'Mission: Impossible II'. The first film was a tight, smooth thriller that barreled along at warp speed, and was a nice break from conventional Hollywood... Full review

Very rarely do so many people say so much praise to so terrible a movie like this one. It was so painful to sit through the movie simply because I don't understand it at all!! I was bored to tears... Full review

SPOILERS Way back in the 1960s a wonderful television series was released called "Mission Impossible". With a legendary theme tune and some great stories, the series was followed by an equally superb film in 1996. Entertaining and well shot, it... Full review
I thoroughly enjoyed the first Mission Impossible. It was probably the only film that puts you into the mind of a secret agent as he tries to uncover a conspiracy that wiped out his cohorts. It had excellent twists, who... Full review

These few faults aside, Red Cliff is a rich, satisfying and thrilling film that stands up to the best Hollywood epics.....what remains is a muscular, focused and uncommonly thoughtful story of war.....Special effects give Woo the opportunity to employ breathtaking crane shots that swoop over entire battlefields.....Choreographed by veteran Corey Yuen, the action is pounding, relentless, astonishing..... ... With a different title, Chow Yun-Fat in the lead, and Cantonese-language dialogue, this would probably seem a better movie. If you were to strip away the franchise name and change the characters around a little bit, I honestly think the production would be more highly regarded as one of Woo's better American films, but in terms of being a Mission: Impossible movie, bluntly speaking it stinks. ... Where the first movie was an spy-thriller that had some nice stunts and action scenes, "Mission: Impossible: II" is an action film that dabbles in espionage. There is a greater amount of convenience in the film and an ability to fully suspend disbelief is a pre-requisite to fully enjoy the storyline. ... Full Review
