the movie itself seems to glamorize and beautify prostitution.....The progression of the plot is terribly linear, lackluster and limited.....the topic material inaccurate, the movie is rendered beautifully.....The only recommendations for seeing this film is for the cinematography and the talents of the actors in the film.....With the material they have, the actors do an amazing job of rendering the character's as living and breathing people..... ... the movie that ultimately ended up in theaters is almost as empty and bland as so-called serious dramas can get.....Memoirs of a Geisha" has been marketed as an illustrious, aesthetically beautiful end-of-the-year epic, a motion picture in which the "Oscar bait" title was written for.....Still, these controversies are the least of the problems with "Memoirs of a Geisha.....has a naturalistic charisma that makes the opening half hour as good as the film ever gets.....As the younger version of Sayuri, Suzuka ... Like a lot of movies (and people) that go bad, the film is best at the beginning.....a producing team less intent on making a masterpiece and more intent on just making a good movie.....It doesn't make the saga of its heroine compelling, emblematic or significant.....These early scenes present a gripping situation and vivid characters..... ...
