The film is a grand one and I wished that more adventures of these two were forthcoming. The film is excellent, but the Blu-ray is only middling. It does feel like the type of historical epic film that Hollywood rarely makes anymore. ... Full Review

Although this footage is encoded in AVC at a fairly colossal bitrate, it's obviously been upscaled from standard definition and doesn't approach the quality of the movie proper. It suffered from numerous delays, yes, but Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is at long last making its bow on Blu-ray. ... Full Review
