Fascinating movie. A perfect adaptation. Since I saw the Indian adaptation before the Scottish original; it actually made me appreciate how seamlessly the story has been adapted. Pankaj Kapur as Abbaji is sensational. Note his expression when he is stopped... Read more at imdb.com

This film is, in short, a masterpiece. A unique interpretation on Shakespeare's "Macbeth", "Maqbool" features Irrfan in one of the most brilliantly executed roles of modern cinema. He remarkably inhabits the skin of a character who is muddled, murderous, and... Read more at imdb.com

Maqbool About underworld dons, mafia, about police officers. For a change its shown that police officers are not all that dumb as they are usually shown as ! Om Puri and Nassiruddin Shah are the 2 police officers – who put an end to the gangs of dons by playing it cool – by being one of them – by being Vibhishan to Ravanas !! Pankaj Kapoor has a young beautiful wife – Tabu. Tabu in turn loves his assistant. A whole lot of confusion is created. In the end all of them die ! Its sad to see the ugly, short Pankaj performing on young and beautiful Tabu ! This is the case of most Indian women….reluctantly they are having to spread their legs to complete blokes ,ugly toads and give birth to nincompoops !Thus India has never seen any happiness till date – how can she – when the women are leading such deplorable life !

a movie based on the shakespeare play macbeth. Irfan khan plays macbeth and nimmi as his ruin. Maqbool(irfan) is the right hand man of abbaji, abbaji has a mistress nimmi(tabu). Tabu and maqbool are attracted to each other and when abbaji is away on business they spend this freedom together. The only person stopping their relationship is abbaji and so nimmi pays on irfan to get rid of him sumhow. She insults his pride and on the day of his daughters wedding, maqbool shoots him in bed next to nimmi. The story follows on to maqbool taking over the business and things go wrong to which problems start occuring and the business goes on a downfall. On one scene his guilty conscience shows when he thinks kaka's eyes open when he's really dead. Same happens to nimmi, she is pregnant, they are having doubts to who is the father of the baby and she is hallucinating...thinks she is seeing blood on her face, her hands and on the wall. Nothing can wash the guilt from their heads and leads to the demise. A well portrayed film.
