So there you have it: a succinct compression of the plot and the odds for a happy ending in "Man on Fire," a film by Tony Scott ("Top Gun," "Crimson Tide").
While the acting is very good and the harsh-angle, rapid-shifting cinematography is interesting for the most part, there are plenty of corny clichs (like a "truth-telling bullet) and a kind of misdirection where Scott spends a hefty chunk of the film setting up a "love story" between Creasy and the little girl--at one point even putting them on a "doub ... And it would have been an great movie instead of a good movie if it weren't for all the little things that went wrong.
Denzel turned in a decent performance, but it was a far cry from his best work.

The result here is one heck of an ugly film.
It's one thing for a film to be bad and know it, but when a film is bad and is completely oblivious to the fact, it makes for one of the worst movie going experiences imaginable.
