Taking a seasoned pro like Tommy Lee Jones and teaming him up with a group of young, scantily dressed cheerleaders who like to jiggle does give the film plenty of opportunity for fun and frivolity and, even though Herek once again fails to really get anything out of this potentially funny material, he does hit on a couple of not so bad moments. ... But I'd take any of those flicks over what's served up in Man of the House , which is one of those "cheerleader comedies" that somehow got mixed up with a banal action movie - and then sat on a studio shelf for about two years. Tough to pinpoint the precise "career low points" of inconsistent fellows like Tommy Lee Jones and director Stephen Herek, but "Man of the House" certainly deserves consideration on all accounts. ...
