Men in the chair is definitely not average film! Dialogs, assorted with Nietzsches bywords constitute wonderful film, with excellent performance! It makes an attempt to tug on your heart strings, but this film was convoluted, disjointed and the use of the jump-cut, washed-out segments was annoying. Kept looking at my watch during this film. Plummer and the kid have done better... Full review

Despite a compelling theme, some truly sparkling dialogue, and terrific performances by misters Plummer, Wagner, and Walsh, this film comes across rather uneven. The direction is heavy-handed, at times bordering on trite, the production design doesn't contribute much, and the photography... Full review

Christopher Plummer gives a knockout performance as an alcoholic veteran movie electrician who rallies the inmates at a home for elderly film folk to assist a high-school movie buff in making a competition picture. It's all about character, respect and dignity and is likeable if not always convincing. ... Full Review

In short, Man in the Chair is worth seeing for Christopher Plummer's superb performance but the under-developed script means that it's never as emotionally satisfying as it should have been. The Bad Unfortunately, the film is at least 20 minutes too long, ensuring that the already fairly weak plot rather overstays its welcome. ... Full Review

Christopher Plummer's performance as an alcoholic stumblebum and one-time Hollywood gaffer has been hailed, though it could hardly be in acknowledgement of its realism. Plummer, as the cigar-puffing curmudgeon "Flash", is sought out by a movie-mad teen (Michael Angarano) who... ... Full Article
