Lonesome Jim' might be the cheapest and grainiest example of this sub-genre by some margin Directed by Steve Buscemi, it's a deadpan, dead miserable black comedy which fully deserves cult status. ... Full Review

The Direction, Acting, and Cinematography were all outstanding making the aesthetic of the film very prominent.....The story was very bleak and eccentric.....With a few simple script revisions this film could have truly been a meaningful work of art;....Subsequently the film continues to explore Jim#39;s mundane....The premise of Lonesome Jim was very promising, especially combined with the distinctive visual aura created by the filmmakers..... ... Steve Buscemi would excel in as an actor, which is why he was an excellent choice for director.....Lonesome Jim" isn't a great film....Jim" delivers honest, three-dimensional portraits of each of the major players, thanks in large part to solid performances by the cast.....the picture meanders, viewers get to know the characters well..... ... Lonesome Jim" has a palpable sense of middle-America emptiness and a ration of wry humor. Here Buscemi stays behind the camera - a lousy video camera, at that - while the listless Affleck tries to blur the issue of who's the dullest actor in his family. ... Full Review
