The scenes of filmmaking are fun, because it's plain these earnest people are making a huge, steaming pile of schlock, despite increasingly lofty aims.
You'll almost be thankful for the amazingly abrupt ending that resolves nothing.

One of the movie's structural problems is that the first half, devoted to making the terrible movie, bears almost no connection to the second half, which is about getting "loaded.
