This film starts out with two guys and a gal who graduate from high school and have their picture taken with champaign bottles. Clay Easton, (Andrew McCarthy) goes on to college and Blair (Jami Gertz) and Julian Wells, (Robert Downey Jr.)... Full review

Robert Downey Jr. gave his best performance in this very dramatic version of his life. This movie i would totally suggest because through his performance it actually showed a example to people who have a drug related problem. It made me... Full review

Less Than Zero is one of my favorite movies. It has a very good anti-drug message. With a very tragic ending. Everytime I see this movie I cry. Robert Downey Jr. is excellent in this movie as Jullian Wells. I love... Full review

How can you not like this movie. How often does RDJ get to do a role where he doesn't even have to get into character and just plays himseld? It's sad because he is an incredible actor. McArthy is actually okay... Full review

This movie kinda touched me. It was really sad that Julian died in the end. I think that he did a final sniff even through he was trying to get clean while they were in the gas station and he suffered... Full review

I first viewed this movie in 1988 not long after it's release. Less Than Zero encapsulates the nations obsession with the runaway "greed is good", "voodoo economics" era of the 1980's. The move is highly stylized, and slick. It's Maimi... Full review

This is an ultra-serious anti-drug flick that is overall, very ineffective aside from the amazing performance by a young Robert Downey Jr.He's blossomed into a great actor despite his problems and this was an ironic, early indicator. His character is completely real and... Full review

A loose adaption of a Brett Easton Ellis novel that captures none of the story's scathing satire or wit.Ultra-serious,'drugs are bad' flick doesn't benefit from the lifeless acting of Andrew MCCarthy(not a great actor) and Jami Gertz.Though this movie is probably... Full review

The film suffers from the McCarthy and Gertz performances, as both of whom seem to have limited ability to convincingly deal with dramatic moments. Sharpness and detail are very good throughout the film; while some of the interior scenes appear slightly softer, the majority of the picture looks crisp and well-defined. ... Full Review

Less Than Zero" is noodle-headed and faint-hearted, a shallow swipe at a serious problem, with a happily-ever-after ending yet. Spader, as the impersonal dealer, is easily the most effective member of the cast, though McCarthy exudes his curious appeal -- like a kissable TV anchorman. ... Full Review

the film is even loosely based on the book should indicate the film's impending controversy.....I found the film as dull as I had as a teenager....As I've said, you only really pay attention to the excessive scenes in this movie, where the director takes you.... ... Full Review
