Cage and Shue are outstanding. I don't know how anyone could drink constantly, and in the quantities that Ben drank. I don't think it's really possible, is it? Sera's unconditional love for Ben is not possible either. Other than those 2... Full review

The overall aspect and summarization of this over worked story is extensively stretched with neither a point or reason for the audience to follow, but this aspect of the movie is sensibly brilliant to what director Mike Figgis wants to convey.... Full review

For all Ms. Shue's warmth, in the kind of gutsy, unflinching role that often goes to Jennifer Jason Leigh, "Leaving Las Vegas" never rings entirely true as a bleak love story. The awkward device of letting Sera talk about herself on a therapist's couch doesn't give her much added depth, though her troubles with a sleazy Latvian pimp (Julian Sands, with a flamboyant accent) add some color. ...
