I don't know what it is about the wit used in this movie or the odd disembodied lines but I loved this movie when it first came out.... Full review

This is one of the best movies out there. I'm a really big Steve Martin fan and in my opinion this is his flagship. An amazing script that in the perfect Steve Martin sort of a way opitimizes the L.A. experience.... Full review

When I first saw this film in the theater, I remember the complete emotional reaction I had to it. I had to watch it several more times to really grasp all of the many complicated levels it contains. This film... Full review

I like this movie a lot because it is very sarcastic. Steve Martin makes fun of LA and makes light of how indulgent things can be out there. The opening scene makes me laugh everytime. I would love to see someone... Full review

Shallow characters, sunny days, flashy cars, vaguely famous people and whacky stories. All this is LA Story and all this is LA. When I first came here a year ago, friends insisted I see this. It's a great film, a Steve... Full review

There was nothing even close to decent in this film!!! It made no sense whatsoever, the acting was absurd, and a highway billboard was a major catylist in the story line!!!... Full review

A few years later, "L.A. Story" didn't quite connect with the masses, but it is arguably one of the best films to ever attempt to portray relationships from the California-point-of-view. Thankfully, Martin sticks to the role that suits him best, the sweet, charming older fellow that we all wish we could call our friend. ... Full Review

The whole project, in fact, suffers from a sense of time warpage, which for satire is near life-threatening. He and director Mick Jackson, who gives the picture a spritzy bounce, portray these lifestyle adventurers as hopelessly romantic children. ... Full Review

One part La-La-land gagfest and two parts valentine (to Martin's real-life spouse Victoria Tennant), the movie has a disappointingly complacent approach. Ironically, Sarah Jessica Parker, in a narratively thankless bimbo role, exudes far more believability. ... Full Review

While an audio commentary from Martin would have been a welcome treat, this DVD edition of L.A. Story is a great release of a great movie. Numerous actors make appearances, such as Richard E. Grant , Chevy Chase , Rick Moranis , and Patrick Stewart as the rude maitre d' of the trendy restaurant L'Idiot. ... Full Review
