even though it lacks that film's unexpectedly affecting redemptive conclusion, it certainly rewards repeat viewings -....like them, too, he flirts with bad taste and revels in ingenious plotting, colourful but deft characterisation, fast, funny dialogue and initially enigmatic tableaux..... ...
