Kisna is a film of sweet surrender.....Make no mistake, this is the story of 'forbidden' love between an Indian villager Kisna (Oberoi) and the British daughter Catherine (Antonia Bernarth) of a tyrannical British ruler.....Though there are blind spots in the patriotic pastiche, those are dissipated by the light of the creator's vision which never disappoint the drama..... ... In the second-half when Kisna turns aggressive and war-like to protect his British beloved from the blizzard of butchery, the narrative complexion turns shades less romantic.
The narrative is suffused in a pungent yet easygoing periodicity that appeals to the heart and stirs the senses.

Subhash Ghai's movie Kisna is a well-crafted movie that tells a gripping story, tugs a few strings at your heart, makes you smile....The man who has made big budget mainstream commercial films in Bollywood is nowadays inclined towards realistic cinema.....The rough and tumble of professional and personal life cannot wither away the smile of actor Vivek Oberoi .....The gorgeous actress is apparently bowled over by the pacer from Indian cricket team..... ... we should be having possibly one of the greatest movies of the modern world coming our way in Jan.....The statement still holds good with Kisna too joining the fray.....An extremely engaging song, it talks about Radha & Krishna in a manner that will be easily identified by one and all.....Mukta Arts Ltd. have always been known for great music in their films, be it Khalnayak, Saudagar, Pardes, Taal, Yaadein and now Kisna ..... ... Kisna" is a film of sweet surrender.....Make no mistake, this is the story of 'forbidden' love between an Indian villager Kisna (Oberoi) and the British daughter Catherine (Antonia Bernarth) of a tyrannical British ruler.....Ashok Mehta's cinematography, Ghai's exquisite shot compositions and Vivek Oberoi's understated rugged and implosive performance.....Flamboyant or rusty, Ghai knows how to tell an engaging story..... ... Vivek Oberoi is restrained and good.
Amrish Puri as the evil uncle is good in a brief role.
The other newcomer, Isha Sharvani, does not get much scope for performance but displays her dancing abilities well.

One such glaring example that comes to mind when one thinks of recent past is Subhash Ghai's magnum opus 'Kisna' that failed to get even a face saving opening despite a massive publicity campaign.
This person has a massive role to play in deciding the fate of the movie.

The two women, who love Kisna dearly, meet again during the sunset of their lives and talk of Kisna's love for Catherine.....the screenplay now becomes very predictable and run-of-the-mill.....Isha Sharvani is a confident actress....but where Kisna falters is in its undernourished and uninspiring screenplay.....Rajat Kapoor is equally good..... ...
