Why they ever made this movie is beyond me. The story was half-baked, Tom Hanks was wooden, Meg Ryan looked bored. My wife and I waited and waited for this thing to get better. It never did. Avoid this movie.... Full review

It's not about the typical fare here. The movie is an emotional ride through failure, depression, awakening, acceptance, rejection, exploration, and finally love. If you view this movie with expectations of a brilliant story or a rational sequence of events, then... Full review

Tom Hanks is a wonderful actor. If it weren't for his and Meg Ryan's acting skills this movie would have dragged beyong imaginable. I did find some moments funny, but for a movie that is only 1 hr 42 minutes, it... Full review

Joe Versus the Volcano is a fabulous movie. There are so many times in the movie, starting at the very beginning, where the movie serves up philosophy about our life's circumstances, choices and outlook. You should pay attention when you watch... Full review

This movie is very funny, utterly ridiculous and rich in human experience all at once. The preposterous plot of "Joe Versus the Volcano," which echoes the Carole Lombard classic "Nothing Sacred," is only accentuated by the phony '40s-movie look of the set design. ... Full Review

Even during its worst moments, this film still looks good.....It's a shame....On balance, however, I readily admit liking this movie....No one is going to accuse Joe of being derivative, and, with so many movies fitting into easily-defined niches, that's a refreshing characteristic.....Stretches of Joe Versus the Volcano are nearly perfect..... ...
