Irreconcilable Differences delivers a few heartfelt laughs and is a pleasant rainy afternoon film....Basically, if you're having some sort of horrible divorce film festival, this one should be included.....A moment of silence for one of the finest moments ever committed to film.....become completely unable to care for their young daughter who is sadly neglected and unloved for the majority of the film..... ... As a kid, Irreconcilable Differences was one of my favorite films.....though the story is entertaining and compelling....Some of the best elements of this film are the ending, the framing of the story, and the writing.....And they end up in a bitter divorce when he "falls in love" with the fresh young star of their second film, Blake Chandler (Sharon Stone).....O'Neal and Long offer believable, often touching, and sometimes humorous performances..... ... IRRECONCILABLE DIFFERENCES is sometimes cute, and is about mean parents, but it also is one of the funnier and more intelligent movies of 1984, and if viewers can work their way past the ungainly title, they're likely to have a surprisingly good time.

Soon he's wooing a young ingénue (Sharon Stone, in her acting debut) for a preposterous historical picture, and eventually the couple separates.....It is, admirably, a pretty risky foundation for a 1984 movie.....After revisiting the movie, it sure is a far-fetched, silly trifle of a fairy tale....It is a wonderful performance.....Irreconcilable Differences carries with it the same charisma.... ...
