Someone above said she's not real in this. I thought she was very real. Her closing comments to the court are priceless and truthful. Also funny and dramatic is star Shelley Long, who is sunk with bad hairstyles and colors... Full review

this is a great movie, full of humor and good performances. being that it is allegedly based on Peter Bogdonavich and his divorce, and his relationship with Cybill Shephard (Blake Chandler), it is quite insightful. but it doesn't settle for... Full review

I didn't know anything about this movie before watching it, except that Drew Barrymore divorces her parents. I think that could be why I found the movie so surprising. But the movie has so many elements that make it one... Full review

Irreconcilable Differences is one of the best movies of the 80s and quite possibly the most underrated love story ever made. For whatever reason, audiences chose to ignore this well-written and well-acted gem in 1984. I think it may have... Full review

Say what you will about the Shyer-Meyers team ("Private Benjamin", "Father Of The Bride", "Baby Boom"), they know how to craft a movie, often exploiting every ounce of sentiment from their scripts. "Irreconcilable Differences" is somewhat of a departure for... Full review
Drew pretty much steals the show as the deadpan "reasoner"character: a child coping in the midst of two selfish, immature adults. I'd compare her to Tatum O'Neal in PaperMoon or Mary Badham in To Kill a Mockingbird for the wayshe anchors... Full review

Irreconcilable Differences delivers a few heartfelt laughs and is a pleasant rainy afternoon film....Basically, if you're having some sort of horrible divorce film festival, this one should be included.....A moment of silence for one of the finest moments ever committed to film.....become completely unable to care for their young daughter who is sadly neglected and unloved for the majority of the film..... ... As a kid, Irreconcilable Differences was one of my favorite films.....though the story is entertaining and compelling....Some of the best elements of this film are the ending, the framing of the story, and the writing.....And they end up in a bitter divorce when he "falls in love" with the fresh young star of their second film, Blake Chandler (Sharon Stone).....O'Neal and Long offer believable, often touching, and sometimes humorous performances..... ... O'Neal plans to be a great movie director. IRRECONCILABLE DIFFERENCES is sometimes cute, and is about mean parents, but it also is one of the funnier and more intelligent movies of 1984, and if viewers can work their way past the ungainly title, they're likely to have a surprisingly good time. ...
