The performances by Steve Buscemi and Sienna Miller are sensational....The humour is bleak from the start, but gets darker....What makes the film exciting to watch is the balancing act as the two characters slip and slide through truth and lies -....journalist and actress battle words and emotions in a potent drama that takes us to unexpected places.....The dialogue is both playful and violent;.... ... Yet, the closeness of it all gets uncomfortable as these two flawed, unstable characters veer towards a dangerous catharsis.....the audience is only trapped within the intensity of these performances for a bearable length of time..... ... Full Review

But already, the film's inclination to metaphorical overkill is clear.....While confession is supposed to be ingenuous, in celebrity culture-political or pop-confession is as self-serving as any other performance.....Maybe, as so many reviewers have said, the film exposes the performers' talents, some going so far as to be surprised....And this leads to Interview 's most potentially compelling aspect, despite its decidedly heavy-handed approach to it..... ... Stagey but enjoyable drama with superb performances from its two leads.
A two-hander like this stands or falls on the quality of the script and fortunately, the dialogue is excellent.

Buscemi's movie is peppered with Van Gogh tributes (a "fan" named Theo, a "Van Gogh" moving truck).....His direction is appropriate to the material.....The good moments here are each character's unmasking of the other..... ... Full Review

The first film, "Interview," is adapted and directed by Steve Buscemi, who plays the world-weary political correspondent Pierre, assigned to interview the well-known, beautiful, second-rate actress Katya, played by Sienna Miller.
The first of a triptych of American remakes of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh's films, "Interview" relies on conversation as forward momentum, and the device works nicely.

Miller's imperious, taunting movie star-ette may be a conceit (and a slightly misogynist one), but she, too, morphs into something like a person.
This is an excellent scene, full of clenched niceties and simmering resentment.
