OF THE many troublesome displays of inanity that go on in "Instinct," the most flagrant has to be the fact Cuba Gooding Jr. The gratuitous sex side plot has stunk up many a bad thriller, but first, "Instinct" is not a thriller, it's a melodrama with an excellent poster; second, were it a bad thriller, it wouldn't have the good sense to be a trite one and shove Tierney and Gooding into bed or onto the kitchen floor. ...
