Or the film might just as legitimately have belonged to the equally cliched (and equally satisfying) genre of celebrity decline. It might, for instance, have been a bittersweet coming-of-age story with a triumphantly happy ending.... ... Full Review

Infamous" veers wildly between some very effective high comedy/social satire and intermittently effective melodrama with a special -....Infamous" needlessly condescends to the locals, suggesting the only way a sophisticate like Capote could get through to them was by name-dropping Sinatra and Bogart.....though Craig (who probably dreams of the day he's no longer identified as "the new 007") is quite powerful.....though he's a celebrated stage actor in England -....If he doesn't quite give us Capote's comple ... Capote tale suffers in comparison....Writer/director Douglas McGrath is more eager for laughs than his predecessors....Like the younger sibling of an overachieving student, "Infamous" is damned from the start:....making malicious jokes about his outrageous clothing.....When it's time for him to ditch the mincing and earn our sympathy, Jones just gets dull..... ...
