Downey's sentiment is admirable, but "Hugo Pool" doesn't transcend the intimacy of the memory he's honoring.
It would be better for all concerned if the movie were being shown only in Downey's cell.

But Hugo Pool , called by its creator a "comedy with serious relief" isn't just fun and games.....an upbeat, quirky romantic comedy that reminds us just how stale most entries into this genre are.....The supporting cast is top-notch.....Downey has always taken his own road, never worrying about or giving into commercial pressure.....Like David Mamet and relative newcomer Quentin Tarantino, Downey writes some of the best dialogue around, and his script sparkles with it..... ...
