Had it hit the screen five or six years ago, the computer animation Hoodwinked would have been hailed as a fresh and funny take on fairy tales.
Character faces are adequate, but background detail is flat and uninteresting for the most part.

They managed to take the beloved childhood story and twist it into a computer-animated, very unusual and very funny movie.
The playful script also helps to drive your attention away from the biggest shortfall of the movie the cheap-looking animation and the slowly eroding story line.

But "Hoodwinked" is a good demonstration of how sophisticated cartoon voice-over casting and acting has gotten these days.
But the voice cast is tops, the songs (by Todd Edwards) are catchy and the script is clever.

Although not the most entertaining of its kind, and certainly not the best-looking, Hoodwinked is consistently interesting and original, and at a manageable 80 minutes it manages to remain enjoyable throughout and avoids stretching the material too far. ... Full Review

The performances are excellent, particularly the always-fantastic Patrick Warburton (you'll recognise the voice) and Edwards himself, who cameos as Twitch, the hyperactive squirrel.
In short, Hoodwinked is an enjoyable comedy that's likely to be enjoyed more by adults than by young children, despite the fairytale theme.

In "Hoodwinked," she's actually working for her Granny, who happens to be a famous cookie maker.
Small kids might not get that "Hoodwinked" is really four versions of the same story, with Red, the Wolf, Granny, and the Woodsman telling their side of it to Flippers so that we get four flashbacks before Flippers, like all great detectives, announces who really did it.

Instead of homogenizing everything to fit a predetermined marketing ideal, Hoodwinked!
The resulting efforts, found under the Roach Approach tag, prove that small budget attempts at animation can be just as creative - or more so - than their multi-million dollar equivalent.
