This play by Shakespeare is one of my least favorite reads of his work, so I wasn't expecting much from this film. Needless to say it didn't wow me one bit. I like Kenneth Branagh, especially when he does Shakespeare, but... Full review

Keep in mind that for most American's the language and syntax of a Shakespearean play is sometimes difficult to keep up with. With that in mind, this is a good piece of work, much more entertaining than the 1944 version. Kenneth's... Full review

"Henry V" marks Kenneth Branagh's greatest achievement to date. Branagh not only directs this rich and visually stunning film, he stars as the title character. The movie opens with Derek Jacobi (Branagh's Shakespearean mentor) in modern garb passionately delivering the... Full review

The acting (especially Branagh's) is excellent, though Holm brings moments of humor and a towering role to boot. But it's the battle scenes that are the most exciting. If you thought the bard was boring, see this movie and decide for yourself. ... Full Review

So it's a given that the movie is worthwhile, maybe even very good. Henry V" is a triumph for Branagh and highly recommended. And he has a fine eye for throat-choking battle scenes that never seem to revel in questionable glory. ... Full Review

Olivier's ''Henry V'' is a splendid film that is also splendid propaganda.....The tavern scenes are otherwise pretty awful....Mr. Branagh has made a fine, rousing new English film adaptation of Shakespeare's ''Henry V,'' a movie that need not apologize to Laurence Olivier's 1944 classic.....it is big enough to encompass the emotional impact of the extraordinary text as acted by the mostly superlative actors..... ...
