I like the old 2-D format, which is great for comedy and would have been better for this movie.
Part of the problem lies with "Happily N'Ever After's" script, which is by Rob Moreland, with the mysterious credit "additional writing" assigned to Doug Langdale.

Happily NEver After is more appropriate as DVD fodder.
Thus begins the battle between the good and the wicked.With films like Shrek and Hoodwinkd visiting the altered states of fairy tale stories, Happily NEver After covers no new ground - it even steals the maniacal laughter of Dr. Evil (of the Austin Powers franchise) to show the wickedness of Frieda (a device used way too often in Happily).
