Like any good war movie, Hamburger Hill goes to great lengths to involve us on an emotional level.
The combat scenes are never overly graphic, but are punctuated by sharp shocking bursts of violence.

Hamburger Hill holds up very well visually 21 years after its release.
McDermott is very good in one of his most famous film roles, and the film also features a young, not-yet-a-superstar Don Cheadle as one of the new guys.
