The story started with a simple happy family of Avinash (Anil Kapoor) and Preeti (Aishwarya Rai) having a family outing with their two kids. On the next scene, we saw that Preeti was hated by her own father. As the... Read more
HDAPH is a nice family film. I know I have made a comment before but there's one thing I forgot to mention. It was the comedy. The comedy wasn't needed. The film would have been much better off without the... Read more

Hamara dil aapke paas hai
Meaning ‘My heart is with you’
Qs. How did the heart go to someone else? What is lub-dubbing in your rib cage in that case?
To understand this , please read on…
A daughter of a religious man whose occupation is to read out ‘Rama Kathas’ ( Stories of Shree Rama – a revered God Head among Hindus who is also the incarnation of Lord Vishnu) loud / or in Temples for the visitors.
He had three daughters and one of them is Ash. Ash happens to witness an ‘attempt to murder’ scene in broad daylight in front of several onlookers. She looks at the people around her – who were watching the murder but were saying nothing nor were trying to stop it form happening. The dangerous looking head Thug comes and kills him in front of all. They all leave. The police arrives and asks the people about the murderer. Everyone – each and everyone just walk away turning a deaf ear. Ash comes in front and says she’ll identify the murderer and bear witness in the court.
An absolutely dumb move that was. When around 100 people just turned away , she should have understood that the thug must be someone with great connections as well as very powerful – thus no one spoke against him – for everyone knows – has watched in films etc, how the thugs escape and the hands of the honest Police officers are tied because the senior officers have to take actions according to the whims and fancies of the Politicians. And Poliicians are the ones who pamper the goons because they in turn get them the votes by booth capturing etc.! This fact has been shown in almost all the Indian films – but was probably not known to Ash in the film !…so she suffers the consequences as well.
The man about to be murdered somehow survives and tells the Police that he was hit by a truck and not the goon. The goon escapes and his brother takes revenge. He picks up Ask in his car - in the middle of a stormy night and rapes her. Because Ash – by the time this movie was released, was already a well established actress – so the detailed raping procedure was not shown (bad news for many) but just an indication was given that she has been raped. He throws her out of his car and drives away.
She reaches home and her parents see her in torn, mud smitten clothes and instantly understand what must have happened to her! She could have fallen off the bus and injured herself in the stormy night ….but not only her parents understood instantly but even the Newspapers got the news and the very next morning the news came out that she was raped !! Now kudos to News reporters I must say – night time, secluded spot, she is picked up, raped and thrown – and the Reporters come to know of it almost instantly !!
Anyways, she is driven out of the house by her parents – Father especially – who says that with a raped girl in the house – no one will marry her and along with her both her sisters will also suffer …for no one in India wants to marry in the house of raped females !!
So Ash approaches her friend’s house and asks her to let her stay for some days. But her friend’s parents come out and say things like ‘we can’t keep a raped female at home and blah blah’.
Hero enters here – Anil Kapoor – he had seen her before while he was trying to reach the injured man to the hospital in his car – the same man on whom the murder attempt was made. He asks her to stay with him in his house. By this time many couples living in that colony had come out and were looking with raised eyebrows and doubting Anil’s intentions. AAnil then tells them all that better not interfere with his affairs or he’ll tell the husbands who all enter their houses once they go to office and also how many married women make passes at him and show their keen interest in havonf a ‘humpy’ session with him ! Meaning: all the wives in the colony were more or less ‘Desperate Housewives’. One ugly female suddenly said – She minds Ash’s stay in the colony. He turns around and says – you be quiet – you left your husband because he was bald….etc. and gives her a dressing down. Thus all others quietly creep into their respective houses and Ash starts to ‘live together’ with Anil. Just live together – she kind of becomes his secretary cum cook cum friend except ‘bed partner’.
And guess what? Anil’s father was a debauch character. A demon. That’s what he calls his own father when his father had defamed Ash’s name as a mistress. Then in comes Anil’s girl friend from abroad. Major competition for Ash. But by then Anil had started liking subservient Ash and knew she’ll always worship him for he was indispensable for her – she had no where to go and Anil had given her a job in his office. They even adopt 2 kids and play the role of mamma, papa…basically a whole lot of crap.
Well from what I understood from this movie is that it is an anti marketing for Indian deity Shree Rama. Ash’s father was a man who lived a pious life by spreading ‘Rama Kathas’ – his daughter met with such a shameful accident !? – what is Bolly trying to convey? God will not save anyone even if one leads the most pious of life? Or are they trying to show that the pundits who read such ‘kathas’ are just doing it for the sake of earning money and not to keep alive morals and values as set by Shree Rama ?
And who , by the way, eventually comes to her as her saviour? – The son of a debauch demon – Anil !! She ‘lives together’ with him – meaning : Promoting the concept of ‘Live together’!
Movie has tremendously wrong vibes – propagating things like :
Most wives are ‘desperate housewives’, husbands hanker for beautiful looking females – whatever be their age and they loath the mere presence of their wives (refer a scene : Jaspal Bhatti talking to a south Indian friend).
It’s the demons (like father, like son) who will eventually save you – by letting you live in their house and make you serve, give you job, pay you for it, give you creature comforts….and obviously take sexual services in return – no one gives anything for free…
HDAPH could have been a much better film had the so-called comedy scenes been toned down, reduced, or deleted all together. At times, they were so tedious that I was tempted to fast forward the DVD. I was starting to... Read more
The film is severely awful and is demeaning to rape victims. On the surface, it may be a daring film about rape but if you dig beneath the surface, what lies is a not-so-positive message about rape. Aishwarya the rape... Read more
