Nice movie based on the lie of Dhirubhai Ambani. Very well acted and directed. The Mani Ratnam/ A.R. Rahman Combo once again gives a good movie. Abhishekh Bacchan and Aishwarya Rai have acted pretty well. Nice songs. A good watch. But cannot see it more than once :-)

Great performances by Abhishek and Aishwarya, this is a story based on the life of Dhirubhai Ambani. The songs and dance sequences are marvelous. Ending is a little too filmy but otherwise a really good movie.

Just returned from the theatres, now that I am home I feel genuinely very happy that Guru Kanth Desai is still going strong. I am also completely confident he will make Shakthi Corporation the biggest company in the world...by now you must be wondering what I am talking about, this is how many viewers would feel after coming out of watching Maniratnam's Guru.
First of all let me start by mentioning Abhishek Bachan's role, as this is the role that Guru is built upon. If there ever was a movie...more

There are films that entertain. And make you happy. Then once-in-a-while you get to watch a film that makes you say – hey what the heck…Let's give life another shot. In other words, you are injected with an unparalleled energy that bolsters your confidence and belief in the possibilities that one can create for one's own self. In spite of boulders of odds in your way. There's a multitude of emotions that Mani Rathnam's 'Guru' generates as you walk out of the theatre with goose pimples and a stammer in the walk. And yes, the buzz surrounding Bachchan Junior is absolutely...more

How often have we said this while re-reviewing films on this site? That for all the ace technical crew assembled, for all the strong performances, a film ultimately fails to deliver as a whole due to a weak screenplay. We saw this with Fanaa, Krrish, Dhoom 2 and now Guru too falls into this category. The disappointment in Guru’s case is all the more as this is a Mani Ratnam film – a director who has the reputation and track record of making films that have been both commercially successful and intellectually stimulating as well. Guru, as is now widely known,...more
