This is one hour of talking about the characters...which i didnt mind, cause i thought "well you gotta know them , to know who murdered someone" . and then it got worse, it was like there was no conclusion to this... Full review
Just because it wins an award, doesn't mean much.

The story moved slowly and focused on too many characters. Add in the social difference between upstairs and downstairs, there was just too much going on in the story but too slowly. At the theatre, I walked out. Rented later to... Full review

Don't mind the reviewer who gave this film an F grade....his screen name is based off Terminator 3. Obviously, anyone who is a fan of those types of films will not enjoy this. It is certainly for people who can appreciate... Full review

Gosford Park is *****. There is no other way of saying it, never before have i seen such full use of a load of old actors who are supposed to be talented. They parade big names(?) and produce boring, mindless garbage.... Full review

I love any great English Drama or any Whodunnit or any of Robert Altmans other movies, but this movie manages to bring together the worst of all those elements. It was long and boring, and I think the filmakers were trying... Full review

I wateched it again last night and it is pure brilliance. The movie ranges from archiac social norms, to modern farce, to whodunit to a Monty Pythonesque hunting scene. Probably Robert Altman's greatest film.... Full review

If perfection is seen through the second viewing, Altman should know that a movie is an entertainment that needs to be provided, above all, on the first viewing. It's interesting to watch a whodunit from the servant perspective, but the movie's... Full review

An example of the French tradition of high-quality adult melodrama, conventional in technique but not story, this thoughtful, provocative film is slow developing because it's all about character, about the tricky, fragile relationships that make us human; about, if you really want to get down to it, the reclamation of a soul. ... get bored and fall for the pretty B-list actor with more than a passing resemblance to Gosford Park's Ryan Phillippe Fellowes' modern aristocrats are a dreary lot, not a patch on the hot-blooded lords and ladies of a Georgette Heyer novel and not half the fun of Nancy Mitford's crowd. ... The movie is brilliant in the way it shows the differences between classes. The movie is constantly delightful and funny, and makes a good statement that lower class people can be as hypocritical and mean as those in the upper class. ... Full Review

The film explores, in an aptly superficial way, the many violations and abuses that make up this class system. While he tries very hard to seduce Isobel, his own kind-hearted wife, Mabel (Claudie Blakley), hangs about on the edges of the frame, so obviously battered by her husband into thinking shes not pretty or cultured enough that a maid takes pity on her. ...
