Just A Super Nice Film....What Else Can You Say?
Nov 18, 2005
ccthemovieman-1 - imdb.com
Here's another one of those old-fashioned movies in which people are all nice: no villains. It's a refreshing change of pace, once in a while, at least for me. Sometimes it's relaxing just to just kick back with a story... Full review

He may be faced with a script that doesn't ask much of him beyond putting on some heavy makeup, but if Chips was my teacher I'm sure I'd love him every bit as much as the boys in this movie do. There's less conflict than in your typical animated Disney movie, and that makes watching Chips Donat is excellent, however, in the title role. ... Full Review

In the hands of actor Robert Donat, Chips is quietly convincing as the actor ages through the better part of a lifetime, his character struggling through good times and bad, happy times and sad. Starting his career in 1870, Chips is kind, gentle, shy, soft-spoken, caring, fair, but firm, and he remains that way his entire career. ... Full Review

Greer Garson, making her feature-film debut, is delightful as Katherine Bridges, the self-possessed young woman who makes a new man of Chipping and gives him a new name, Mr. Chips, to boot. ...
