Anyone who accuses Gone In 60 Seconds of being mindless clearly didn't do enough research before renting or buying it.....However, films like Gone In 60 Seconds aren't meant to be dissected and criticized for their lack of subtlety;....The only thing you can't blame on Bruckheimer is the rather hackneyed plot;....This is completely serviceable entertainment with an ear-splitting soundtrack.....Fans of wham bang bash crash action and people who enjoy watching a talented cast (which includes three Oscar winne ... Maybe that schizoid feel is the result of screenwriter Scott Rosenberg's having worked on more sensitive and slow-paced films like "High Fidelity....The cheesy, techno music doesn't help much....Yes, there are some nifty action scenes involving cars and car chases and stunt driving, but not nearly as much as you'd expect.....Angelina Jolie is painfully obvious as nothing more than window-dressing.....But some of the dialogue in "Gone in 60 Seconds" is just plain silly, the situations can seem far-fetched... ... While I know that a Bruckheimer movie won't ever be a great action flick, I do like the fact that I can count on these works to be fun, frivolous entertainment.
Gone In Sixty Seconds won't claim any prizes for originality, but it nonetheless provides a solidly entertaining and exciting experience.

With this high-speed boring movie, theres nothing here we havent seen before in some form or another.
Gone In Sixty Seconds is one more for the garbage heap (a little better than Taxi but not by much) and not quite the wild ride I thought I was promised.

Like the best Bruckheimer action movies, this one is ridiculously well cast.....The idea of a trailer trumping the movie it promotes is not new.....Finally, one of the most exciting and best-edited pieces of cinema of the decade is available for endless repeat viewing, in a special-edition package.....Still, the movie itself has the slick energy typical of a Jerry Bruckheimer production.....There is no logical reason to mine the rich talents of character actors like Robert Duvall, Delroy Lindo, Timothy Olyp ... The DVD Video: Widescreen (2.35:1) Anamorphic treatment here, and the movie looks pretty damn perfect.
Based on the 1974 cult flick of the same name, Gone in Sixty Seconds is the mindless sort of movie that's not only well aware of its own mindlessness -- it pretty much thrives upon it.

The new, unrated Director's Cut of "Gone in Sixty Seconds" contains nine more minutes than the original edition.
I liked the pun in Otto's name best, as well as a character called "Sphinx" (Vinne Jones) because he's quiet.

Director Dominic Sena is known for "Kalifornia" (1993), a dark, moody road film, and "Swordfish" (2001), a standard caper flick.....One of the few times I've known a Director's Cut to turn a bad film into a good one was "Daredevil..... ... Full Review
