The special effects are the best of the entire " Godzilla " series.
What makes this such a dark and somber film is the fact the Japan had endured two atomic bombs less that 10 years before the film was made.

It certainly isn't the best film of the series
It will probably come as a surprise to most American viewers to learn that the original Japanese version of "Godzilla" is regularly included in the top 5 on Japanese lists of their best native films.

Still, Godzilla has never looked as good as in Honda's original conception, and few sci-fi creatures have equaled the size or impact of its first footsteps.
With dozens of Godzilla films in existence, it's hard to pick just one that stands as the worst.
