I saw this movie, and walked out after the first 15 minutes and then wandered into another theater, where I saw, "All That I Need." First Descent was boring, but all that I need had everything: story (which First Descent lacked)... Full review

First off - I am an avid snowboarder and watch snowboarding movies on a regular basis, and second I think that if you love snowboarding you'll like this movie, if you're not into snowboarding you probably won't be into this movie.... Full review

In outline, the story is familiar, even if the subculture is not - and the same might be said for the contrived non-drama which makes up the other half of this documentary. Watching these guys weaving down rocky, near-vertical mountainsides, with gusts of powdered snow flying in their wake like sea foam, I sat there thinking: if this had been an IMAX film, it could have been even more spectacular. ... welcome to your new favorite movie.....If you're an avid snowboarder, you certainly won't mind the flick's deliberate pacing and somewhat overblown opinion of the sport....if you love snowboarding, you'll probably love this movie.....Snowheads will also enjoy several minutes of Extended Snowboarding Footage , and the platter winds down with a pair of deleted scenes ..... ... enjoyed the few documentaries directed by Miller that I've viewed recently.....Audio quality was satisfying, with bassy tunes and crisp dialogue.....The film does provide some interesting historical bits and pieces (snowboarding has no known inventor, but came out of an early board called the "snurfer"; although it was originally dismissed, it gained a strong enough following to turn feelings around to the point where corporate sponsors are now heavily involved) and the footage of the multi-generational boa ... The rest of this new documentary is a bit stale, thanks to a similar filmmaking template used in such other sports documentaries like....My only real criticism of these documentaries is their smug attitude about their subjects;....Descent" isn't shy when it comes time to expound on the mark snowboarding has left on sports, taking it so far as to imply.... ...
