The film's main problem is....The performances ensure that Fireflies in the Garden remains watchable....it lacks dramatic impact and fails to deliver the required emotional punch.....there's strong support from a delightful Watson....he also has strong chemistry with both Watson and Moss, which works well..... ... Fireflies In The Garden is perfectly watchable....The stellar cast also includes Carrie-Ann Moss, drifting through as Michael's alcoholic wife Kelly....Ryan Reynolds fares rather better as the adult Michael, investing him with a dry, sarcastic wit that serves as his defence against a cruel world.....He also shows some good chemistry with his aunt Jane, played in spirited fashion by Emily Watson..... ... making amends for past wrongs fails to hit the mark with its tedious melodrama and plodding plot.....it has its compelling moments and the odd touch of comedy....In the end, Fireflies In The Garden plays out like a clichéd melodrama, complete with bickering family, unloved son, dramatic music and barren landscapes.....The entire experience feels like it is leading up to a dramatic and well-needed climax....sadly this never materialises and what we're left with is a run-of-the-mill yarn, albeit one with a st ...
