"Firecracker" is the kind of film that never really appeals to a specific group of people. It doesn't really fit easily into any genre, and isn't the kind of movie that will enthrall those seeking simple entertainment from any film-going... Full review
"Firecracker" is a film that I can't stop thinking about. Maybe I'm over analyzing it. The film is based on true events of a murder that took place in Kansas in the early 1960's. Jimmy is a shy and sensitive... Full review

The depressing and tragic climax and ending lean a lot towards the work of Hitchcock. In fact, if this film had been made in some parts by Hitchcock, it would not have been too much of a surprise. If you're... Full review

As a fan of film noir and detective movies, I am too often put off by modern attempts into the genre that try to replace atmosphere and intelligence by just having gratuitous nudity and swearing; the genre managed atmosphere without... Full review

Having watched this twice at the Raindance Film Festival in London, England, there is more to the film than meets the eye. There are symbols showing you different things, such as the blue-bottled tree and the mirrors all over the... Full review

"Firecracker" is not your regular film; it's done with a technique that is not common in the industry, and therefore has been and probably will be, both criticized and praised. The technique is used by showing realistic moments in merciless... Full review

A good enough story, but she has foolishly ripped up some of the carpet....I praise "Firecracker" because it is original and peculiar....There are inexplicable images, like bright blue bottles hanging from the stark branches of a tree next to a woman gowned in white, that work.... ... Full Review

It also looks like they have a damn good film on their hands, too. Rolling alongside Balderson's film was a documentary crew (including Joshua Kendall, Joe Martin, Ed Leboeuf and even Steve Baldserson himself) revealing the tremendous work this family put into the making of this feature and it's a wonder to watch how well they all interact with each other. ... No doubt about it, there's some real skill on display in "Firecracker", along with a pretty decent story. The other primary members of the cast are strong, as well. That dedication to a certain sort of realism pervades the film. ... Full Review
