They were able to relax a bit though as Everything's Gone Green unspooled, revealing itself as an enjoyable meditation on the difference between living and existing and the influence of the almighty dollar.
The themes of responsibility and morality get a proper workout, as Ryan wants to do the right thing, but finds it a lot easier to just give in and go with the (illegal) flow.

His luck changes when a) he manages to land a job with a lottery magazine and b) meets comely Ming (Steph Song), who is unfortunately attached to macho golf course designer Bryce (J.R. Bourne).

Ryan's job, interviewing the initially happy winners that by the latter stages of the movie have turned into sad follow-ups of families destroyed by their windfalls, is another beautiful touch.
