i watched the movie on stars last night, didn't expect much, hadn't even heard about it before, but i was pleasently suprised, it's a decent movie, a large peice with a lot of actors, and some great performances...i liked this movie... Full review
Big Name Actors..Not a Big Movie

I rented the movie. Midway through the disc was a bit messed up. If it hadn't played through I would not have been dissapointed. I picked it up expecting more from all the big name actors. It was a little bit... Full review

I really likied this movie because I think it tapped into gambling and how it changes people, but still gives them a chance to be good again. The inner struggle between family and the need to play, the business of watching... Full review
Tedious, Predictable and Utterly Pointless

Right down to Kelsey Grammar's ridiculous prosthetic nose, there is not one thing authentic or endearing about Even Money. Despite an excellent cast, Even Money is overdramatized, cliche-ridden and littered with some of the worst dialogue you'll hear this side of... Full review

This movie is not a homerun; but I'd give it a solid triple. The allstar cast gets it to second base. You know what's coming; but you watch it anyway. Everybody hams it up pretty good.... Full review

Here is proof that good actors and good direction can result in something rather flat. Upon seeing the cast list I had high expectations, doubly so for Tim Roth and Forest Whittaker. Not even an hour into the movie I was... Full review

It's a slow starter that in the beginning can feel a little heavy handed about the emotional consequences of gambling on the lives of the various protagonists in this multi-plot film. However, to follow a cookie-cutter big up / big down... Full review

The plots are all maddeningly blatant and laced with telemovie cliches....represents a major low for usually accomplished director Mark Rydell ( On Golden Pond , The Rose ).....Most offensive is that Even Money trivialises the real human dimension to addiction in favour of a ridiculous crime plot..... ... Film Threat, Hollywood's Indie V
Its just a casino in Rydells limited imagination, a few set pieces where you have to climb stairs to get to some of the slot machines. You can wonder why Tim Roth bothered. Dont even bother. ... Full Review

An excellent character driven movie but with a plot that has a few holes in it. Not quite but this is a weirdly hypnotic film. While parts of the film may ring untrue to gambling purists, all in all ... Full Review

It actually makes this look like a good movie a caper, even. The performances, however, save the movie from becoming a complete disaster. But, no, you get a depressing movie with an even more depressing main menu. ... Full Review

But that doesn't make the movie any less stupid, and in any event, to co-opt gambling addiction, which has roots far more complex and disturbing than "what we're willing to put on the line," into the service of such facile moralizing seems tasteless. ... Full Review
