One great film among two lesser.

I rather enjoy watching short films. Like short stories, there's seldom room for more than one good idea, so that idea has to be done well--in the hands of a skilled director, this is an opportunity rather than a limitation.... Full review

3 postmodern shorts apparently ordered from most to least understandable. Wong's is much more simplistic than Wong's features. Soderbergh's is a fantastic piece of overlapping madness. Antonioni's short is way too oblique; although it reminds me of "Close-Up," there is no... Full review

it's a good concept. but the end result doesn't work. wong's film was typical, he hasn't brought anything new to his directing. soderbergh's film has a nice idea, but doesn't really go anywhere with it. Antonioni's film made me think i... Full review

A confusing film set in three different languages that seemingly have no plots, no character developments and even less erotic themes. the styles and imagry of the films were average at best. Half the audiance left before the first director's poor... Full review

and my expectations especially vis a vis the Gong Li, Wong Kar Wai vignette were not met. She's gone a long way down to appear in this melange of tripe. The Soderburgh piece was at least somewhat whimsical and Arkin is... Full review

The first segment is breathtaking, worth it and highly erotic. the 2nd segment is very funny but has ZERO sex appeal, ZERO (unless you are 13 years old and get excited just 'cause there is nudity). The last segment (I am... Full review

Exhaustively pretentious and obtusely symbolic (aka brimming with bullshit), Antonioni's contribution to Eros is exactly the sort of film that makes people say they hate foreign films. The worst is Antonioni's, which immediately inflicts the audience with horrible Eurotrash music and despicable characters. ... Full Review

The first, and best, story comes from Wong Kar-Wai.....whether the movie is a net positive or negative depends on your impression of Steven Soderberg's middle part.....Like many of Wong's features, "The Hand" is set in 1960s Hong Kong and features gorgeous Christopher Doyle cinematography.....A great deal of the action being shot not directly, but as a reflection in a rounded mirror..... ... Those words suit "Eros" as well; lovely though it is to look at, it does not reveal very much. The effect is somewhere between a Mad magazine satire and a Maxim photo spread, but "The Dangerous Thread of Things" at least shows that Mr. Antonioni still has a lively eye, which he is content to train on picturesque landscapes and beautiful actresses. ...
