Driven is possibly the worst motorsport-themed film ever made.....No one watches a film like this for its intriguing characters or ingenious story.....The motoring editor, Peter Hall, believes Simon's doing the film an injustice;....in Peter's opinion, it is simply the worst film ever made.....The problem here is that the action is so frenetic.... ... Sylvester Stallone makes a return to scriptwriting with Driven, which is presumably something of a long-cherished project for him, particularly as the structure so closely echoes Rocky , Stallone's last script-writing success.
Neither Burt nor Stallone make any particular effort, so it's up to the supporting cast to deliver the surprises.

There's a "tunnel vision" kind of effect used in the film that really doesn't work well.
The action and the look of the film are stunning.
One open-wheel race car fan called the movie "disappointing" after seeing it.

The dumbing down of what probably could have been a great movie doesn't really stop there.
Evel Kneivel would be devestated if he saw what total crap "Driven" believes will hold up on the big screen.

As "Driven" demonstrates, it's possible for a movie to be so preposterous and so completely clueless about its own stupidity that it's almost fun.
Although there are a handful of exciting scenes in this auto-racing drama, there aren't nearly enough to compensate for the lame, slow-to-develop character interaction that bridges them.

In Stallone's auto-racing drama, Driven, he transitions from the role of the strapping hero to the role of the wizened adviser who sits on the sidelines and cheers for the hero (the bland Kip Pardue as Jimmy Bly).
The only surprises are the first-ever, synchronized-swimming seduction scene and some cheapo special effects.

My knowledge of auto racing is sparse -- for all I know, Harlin has unforgivably corrupted the sport -- but Driven manufactures genuine thrills.
To reject a routine genre picture like Driven without acknowledging the pleasures it has to offer -- however small
